Dr. Ray Keen and Chuck Brasher Scholarships
2 Scholarships available per calendar year – $1,000 each
The deadline for 2027 scholarships is December 7, 2026.
Eligibility: These scholarships may be awarded to two students who have an interest in the field of Arboriculture, Woody Ornamental Horticulture, or Park Management.
Presentation: These scholarships are presented to the recipient(s) by the Association at the Shade Tree Conference awards Banquet held in January. Details are provided upon notification of the award.
Scholarship Application – Include the following:
- Name
- Permanent mailing address
- Contact phone number
- Essay (not to exceed 750 words) detailing:
- How you would advocate for your future Horticultural/Arboricultural plans.
- A statement of why you should receive this award including financial need.
- Your favorite woody shrub/tree and why.
- Current resume
- University or High School Transcript (does not need to be official)
- Three (3) references from either instructor, employers, and an academic or professional mentor. Your references shall include the following information:
- Name
- Position
- Relationship to candidate
- Email (Required) / Phone
